Gooey, chewy cranberry & cherry flapjacks recipe

I’ve done something a little different for today’s recipe blog post: I’ve instastory’d it! You may have spotted a couple of quick and easy DIY projects on my instastories in the run up to Halloween (you can find my ghost lanterns and no-carve pumpkin decorating project on my Cassiefairy YouTube channel if you need inspiration for next year!) and I really enjoyed sharing my projects with my Instagram family first. So today, I’ve done the same, but with my favourite recipe for cherry and cranberry flapjack…Be warned: This is a gooey, chewy, very sweet and sticky flapjack recipe – like flapjacks used to be before they became a healthy option! Just read the ingredients list and you’ll probably realise why…

Ingredients

125g butter

100g brown sugar (I used muscovado sugar because I prefer the treacle-y flavour)

4 tablespoons of golden syrup

250g oats

A handful of chopped cherries, dried cranberries and sultanas

Honestly, this makes the most delicious flapjacks I’ve ever eaten, but you really will only be able to manage a small square at a time because they are so sweet. Here’s a quick video to show you how to make the recipe:

You can store the flapjacks in an airtight container and pop one into your packed lunch each day, or enjoy a square with a cuppa as a treat. Let me know if you have a go at making this easy recipe and leave me a comment if you can suggest any other ingredients to add to this flapjack rather than these dried fruits – the more ideas I have for pimping up this recipe, the better!
